Jag

Ah, no April Fool's for me today. Back to work tonight.

I was plotting out today's post yesterday, thinking about people I know who were once the leading lights of the blogosphere - well, of my blogosphere, anyway - but who now have in recent months moved on, given it up, or whatever. In some cases I know what's up. In others I have no idea.

But to do justice to their stories would take a lot more energy than I have to spare right now. I'll continue to compose the post in my head. Maybe by the time I get around to writing it one or two of them will be back. It's happened before.

Thinking about that stuff got me down, though.

I also am disappointed that the information blackout I wrote about in the previous post continues. In a situation like this I would expect full disclosure so everyone can approach the problem rationally and take action based on a full understanding of the situation. In this case I can only assume that the withholding of information is deliberate. The failure to address the resulting mob hysterics may be deliberate, too. Is there something to be gained by having a bunch of uninformed individuals taking actions based on speculation and assumptions? Some people would say yes, absolutely. But I never expected it from the people involved in this situation.

There's some April Fool's stuff going on out there, but the world has gotten so strange that it's hard to distinguish fake stories from real stories. That's true every day of the year, not just today. So I'm not even going to try. Instead I'm going to log off, make my lunch, and get ready for work.

Here's to absent friends.

Yesterday you referred to PZ Myers. Did you know that he was a speaker at the 2008 Mensa Annual Gathering? Our atheist SIG paid his way to come in and speak.

No, I didn't know that. You'll have to tell me all about it when I see you.

By the way, I just called "bullshit" on P.Z. (on the linked post on his site) for his continuing refusal to provide background information on this issue. We'll see if that provokes a response.

Peeps coming and going at Epinions where I write is a way of life. It is indeed common to miss 'absent friends'. And such a joy when one resurfaces, if only briefly.

I look forward to seeing that post. i know if I were to try to remember all my online 'friends' from the different sites I have actively participated at . . .yeah it would be an 'energy' hog.
