When you're a dog, every morning is a celebration. When you work on a 4x4 schedule, every weekend is a four-day weekend.
As with most things, that's not exactly true. Of late weekends have been five or six or twelve or even fourteen days long, due to layoffs and holidays. During the busy season people may work five or six or even twelve (or more) consecutive days. (Even worse are the non-consecutive days, when you are mandated for overtime in the middle of your four days off. That hasn't been an issue lately.)
In theory I am off this Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. So just when many people are finally returning to work after their extended Christmas and New Year's holidays, I am finally free of work and Christmas cookie baking.
No solid plans yet. I need to renew my driver's license before the end of the month, so I may as well do that this week. I should be able to order glasses with my new prescription from one of the few places that actually accepts my insurance. I will be taking my mom to an appointment and grocery shopping on Tuesday. And if it's sunny this week, I may make arrangements to re-shoot some of my stained glass windows using a tripod.
Then on Thursday I'll find out if I have another four-day rotation of work, or if I'm laid off again.

Good luck work-wise. This recession is really beginning to suck, isn't it?
