

The color of a lilac blossom is dark and dull before it opens, and grows brighter just before it opens. Like a dandelion, each lilac spray is made of numerous smaller flowers.
Here is a zoom of a high contrast monochrome photograph of the same blossom. As always, little details pop out that are lost in the color version.

I was surprised this morning to see some of the clusters of blueberry flowers already opening. Here they are a few hours later.


This red azalea is not quite open yet, but is definitely about to open. Maybe tomorrow...
