Continental's limits for flights to Shannon airport in Ireland:
- Two checked bags, 62 linear inches total (length + width + height) and 50 lbs. for each bag.
- One carry-on not to exceed 50 linear inches and 40 lbs.
- One personal item equvalent to a laptop computer or purse. (Mine will be a backpack containing critical documents, my camera, a book for reading, DK Eyewitness guidebooks for Ireland and London, and a notepad and pen.)
140 lbs. total? Shouldn't be a problem. This time I'll be travelling a little lighter than last - no cake mixes. Last time my luggage was filled with cake mixes, which are impossible to find in Ireland and are among the densest items you can pack. I shipped some cake mixes at Christmas, so my friend doesn't need them this time. Just some tuna (solid white Chicken of the Sea albacore), Dunkin' Donuts coffee, clam chowder (gotta confirm she wants creamy/New England style), and a few other things you can't get over there. Some of that weight will be replaced on the trip back with Paddy whiskey, which you can't get over here!
