Last night didn't go exactly as planned. We started off the night watching Ghost Ship, which is a movie that constantly tricks you into thinking that it's just about to get better - but never does. We followed that with two episodes of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, with occasional peeks at the Dick Clark's New Year's Eve Special - which kept promising that Dick would be showing up in just a little bit, but didn't deliver until after 11:30. At least Mariah Carey held my attention, since there was the drama and suspense of whether or not her ample breasts would actually pop out of her top. (They never did, much to my disappointment and the disappointment of tens of millions of other viewers, and particularly to the flavor-of-the-week substitute host who got to kiss Mariah at midnight - I think.)
There was also some question as to how long it took to write the Hillary Duff song "The Beat Of My Heart", which has a total of about 15 words in it. Hillary also did not pop out of her dress, though she never really made any serious threat to do so. (At times I thought the camera was going to simply go straight up her miniskirt. It came as close to doing this without actually doing so on several occasions.)
Dick Clark finally showed up, and his stroke has profoundly affected his ability to speak. Yet for some reason someone thought it would be wise to have him speak at length for many segments.
Well, gotta run and take a shower. My friends are just about 45 minutes away!
