Posting problems

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to complete and refine the previous post. I've experienced more than a dozen crashes, lock-ups and forced restarts since last night. No idea why. Maybe some of the sites that I've tried to link to carry a special burden that exceeds the capabilities of my poor old computer.

If you want to look into the topic of climate change and the IPCC report (the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report released just over a week ago), you should pick up a copy of the February 10-16, 2007 issue of New Scientist. It's got quite a bit of fascinating, in-depth stuff, including an article on the items that didn't make it into the IPCC report. Check it out!

I'd blame it on Blogger.... Hehehehe.

I'm glad that people are finally really looking at Climate Change as a serious issue...

For once I think this isn't Blogger's fault. I was crashing whenever I tried to copy a chunk of text from CNN or whenever I tried to navigate around the Huffington Post site. I think these two sites, like many other sites, are loaded with features and memory-consuming doo-dads that are not optimized for an eight-year-old computer on a dialup connection. Also, with only about 300 megabytes of hard drive free (on a 30 GB hard drive), I think anything that inflates the size of my swap file beyond a certain size will cause a crash. A friend just gave me a 10 GB portable hard drive, so that should allow me to unload a decent chunk of the stuff that's just taking up space on my hard drive.
